Site-visit at Budapest Sewage Works Ltd.
The Budapest Sewage Works Ltd., the main sponsor of the ECSM 2010 conference, invites the participants for a site visit of the WWTP on 8th September.
The Budapest Sewage Works Ltd., as the greatest environment management company, considers its mission to lead the establishment of environment friendly technologies and developments, notably the production of biogas through its activities and apart from its wastewater collection and treatment core activities.
Dewatered sludge, produced in a volume of 108,000 thm3 per year at the plant, is a by-product of wastewater treatment. In 2007, a large-scale environmental and bioenergy project was launched with an investment of two billion forints in order to introduce an energy-efficient and environmentally safe solution for sludge treatment at the plant. Since 2008, electrical and heat energy has been produced from the sludge.
Phase 2 of the extension of the North-Pest Wastewater Treatment Plant has also been finished. The purpose of this investment was to remove nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorous) from wastewater.
The annual volume of inorganic waste produced during wastewater treatment is 882 m3.
The wastewater treatment plant uses environmentally safe, comprehensive treatment waste procession and recycling technologies.
